Excellent opportunity for a Production & Operations Manager to join a thriving & innovative company in Co. Clare.
The Production & Operations Manager will lead and optimise all production, operations, and process engineering activities to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing. The role oversees CNC machining operations, drives Lean transformation, supports Industry 4.0 adoption, and actively manages HR-related matters within the production team. The successful candidate will be highly analytical and an excellent problem solver, using data-driven approaches to deliver continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and oversee daily production operations to meet delivery, quality, and cost targets.
- Develop and execute production schedules, resource planning ensuring resources are optimised.
- Monitor and analyse performance metrics (eg scrap, downtime) to identify improvement opportunities.
- Oversee process engineering activities, including workflow optimisation and SOP development.
- Implement solutions to improve productivity, reduce cost, and enhance process capability.
- Oversee CNC programming, tooling strategy, machine capability studies, and optimisation.
- Troubleshoot CNC issues using technical and analytical reasoning.
- Identify opportunities to integrate robotics and automation into CNC workflows and oversee commissioning, programming, and optimisation of robotic and automated systems
- Manage raw material, work-in-progress, and finished product stock levels.
- Ensure warehousing and dispatch systems run efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively.
- Lead and coach teams in Lean tools such as VSM, 5S, Kaizen, SMED, and visual management.
- Drive standardisation across processes and ensure continuous optimisation.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop production teams & conduct performance reviews
- Manage HR within team including recruitment, training, attendance, disciplinary matters, and policy compliance
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and problem solving.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field (preferred).
- Minimum 8 years in production/operations management ideally within CNC or high-tech manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining and programming (SolidWorks or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving ability, capable of diagnosing complex production and engineering issues.
- Experience implementing Lean/continuous improvement systems and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Knowledge and experience of robotics integration.
- Strong IT skills with ERP, CAD/CAM software, and data analytics
- Excellent people management and HR compliance skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and decision-making skills
- Excellent Organisational and Time-Management skills.
- Strong Analytical Skills and Attention to Detail.
