Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Waterford City – Permanent!

Exciting opportunity for a people orientated personality with a high level of expertise in mechanical design looking to make an impact in fighting climate change.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of our client’s medium-to-long term annual targets of direct atmospheric capture of CO2 at Mtonne to Gtonne levels.

Role:

• Mechanical engineering and supervision of prototype commercial-scale modular carbon capture unit construction
• Development of 2D/3D illustrations and models adhering to applicable guidelines and safety protocols
• Supervision of component specification, selection, procurement, and installation oversight (including fans, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and interconnected piping)
• Providing guidance on optimal commissioning and operational parameters, along with interaction with stakeholders such as potential clients and suppliers.

Education and Experience required:

• Proficiency in advanced mechanical design and adept interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration with the NEG8 Carbon team.
• Minimum of 10 years’ worth of expertise in machinery or plant construction, coupled with experience in heat transfer design and systems enhancement, ideally within the realm of gas processing.
• Proficient utilization of 2D/3D design software.
• Drive and competence in resolving intricate design challenges within demanding time limits.
• Proven capabilities in leadership and effective team coordination.
• Versatility and the capacity to excel within a rapidly evolving and dynamic work setting.
