Reports To: Nursing Manager
Our client is a leading healthcare provider in Limerick, delivering compassionate, high-quality care to patients in a supportive and inclusive environment. They are dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to the local community and are looking to expand their team with dedicated Healthcare Assistants.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care activities such as washing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
- Support patients with mobility needs and provide assistance with moving or repositioning.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, and pulse as directed by medical staff.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring proper infection control procedures are followed.
- Provide emotional and social support to patients, offering companionship and assisting with daily routines.
- Assist nursing and medical staff with patient care and documentation.
- Ensure the dignity and respect of patients at all times, maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
- Administer prescribed medications under supervision, as required.
- Report any changes in a patient’s condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to healthcare regulations, safety procedures, and organisational policies.
- Participate in training and development opportunities as required to improve service delivery and personal skills.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in a healthcare assistant role or similar (at least 1 year preferred).
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent (or working towards it).
- Knowledge of healthcare best practices, patient rights, and infection control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused attitude.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.
- Garda vetting will be required.
- Previous experience working with elderly or vulnerable individuals.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience in using care documentation systems.
