CNC Operator

CREGG are working with our client in seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator to join their manufacturing team.

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines as a CNC Operator to produce precision special cutting tools such as end mills, drills, reamers, and custom tooling components. Ideal candidates will have prior experience with tool grinding and a solid understanding of machining operations and blueprint reading.

Shift: Evenings 4-12, Mon-Thurs, 12-7 Friday.
Weekend Overtime
Permanent Position 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines as a CNC operator (e.g., ANCA, Walter, Rollomatic, etc.) to produce precision cutting tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders to determine machine setup and production specifications.
  • Monitor machining operations and inspect finished tools using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and tooling.
  • Ensure quality standards are met through frequent part inspections and process checks.
  • Adjust machine settings to optimize efficiency and minimize tool wear or production errors.
  • Record production information and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Level 6 or Trade qualified; technical/vocational training preferred.
  • 1 -3 years of experience operating CNC machines as a CNC operator in a tooling or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with tool grinding or carbide cutting tools highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
  • Familiarity with G-code programming and CNC controls a plus.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
