Lead Automation Engineer- Permanent

CREGG Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Lead Automation Engineer for a role with our client based in Cork. 

Summary of position
Our client is seeking a candidate with 4 or more years’ experience in validated automation systems in Pharmaceutical or Food & Beverage manufacturing, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA or Manufacturing Execution Systems. A background in GAMP 5 and experience with Rockwell, Siemens and AVEVA (Wonderware), products would be a distinct advantage. 

Key responsibilities

• Assuming technical lead role on automation projects, including leading design, test, and integration activities.
• Working with a team of automation engineers delivering projects to customer sites.
• Developing engineering design documents, technical evaluations, and test plans for cGMP process equipment and following GAMP 5 guidelines.
• Providing design and approval for hardware, software, and controls for automated systems.
• Working closely with customers to identify areas for improvement through the use of automation and data analytics technology.
• Providing technical and automation operational support to Engineering, Manufacturing, Validation and Facilities departments.
• Co-ordinating and supporting project commissioning activities
• Mentoring and training of junior engineers.
• Researching new technologies and trends in Industrial Automation and liaising with senior management on automation business strategy.

Candidate Profile

• Experienced automation engineer with 4 or more years’ experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Computer Science / Information Systems or related field.
• PLC Programming Experience: Allen-Bradley PLCs / Siemens TIA Portal.
• HMI / SCADA Experience: Rockwell / Siemens / AVEVA / Schneider.
• Knowledge of process instrumentation and wiring.
• Experience with control networks and communications systems (Profibus, Modbus, DeviceNet).
• Experience working with validated Automation systems in the Pharmaceutical or Food Beverage manufacturing environment.
