Technical Sales Manager

CREGG is delighted to be recruiting a Technical Sales Manager to join one of Irelands leading renewable energy/solar solutions companies based in Shannon, Co. Clare.

Reports to: Sales Director
Portfolio: Full Solar Solutions Portfolio (Modules, Inverters, Batteries, Mounting Systems, EV Chargers)
Location: Hybrid role – 2-3 days based in Shannon office.

Role Summary:
The Technical Sales Manager bridges the gap between commercial sales and engineering expertise. This role is responsible for supporting sales with deep product knowledge, designing solutions that meet installer and end-user needs, and providing technical guidance pre- and post-sale.
The ideal candidate is both technically competent and customer-focused, capable of building trust with installers, electrical contractors, and commercial clients, while supporting internal teams in delivering solar energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Solution Design & Consultation

  • Support sales and account teams by designing solar system layouts and advising on product selection for residential, commercial, and agricultural projects.

Technical Sales Support

  • Join sales meetings to explain system performance, compatibility, and installation requirements to clients.

Training & Education

  • Deliver product training to installers and staff (in-person or virtual), ensuring correct use of inverters, batteries, and monitoring systems.

Product Demonstrations

  • Conduct on-site or online demos for new product lines and technologies, highlighting key features and benefits.

Technical Escalation & Post-Sales Support

  • Assist with troubleshooting, product warranties, and system configuration queries after installation.

Collaboration & Feedback Loop

  • Work closely with Procurement and Technical Directors to feedback on installer challenges, emerging needs, and competitor product gaps.

CRM & Reporting

  • Log technical support activity, training sessions, and solution proposals in Odoo CRM. Contribute to monthly sales and product performance reports.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Prior experience in technical salessolar system design, or electrical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systemsinvertersbatteries, and monitoring platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical clients.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Odoo or similar), layout tools (e.g. PV*SOL, Helioscope), and inverter platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
  • Full clean driver’s licence and willingness to travel within Ireland.
