Automation Documentation Controller
CREGG is currently recruiting a Documentation Specialist for a client based in East Cork on a permanent basis
Role Overview
The Documentation Specialist is responsible for supporting the commercial and financial performance of engineering projects. The role focuses on project cost tracking, variation management, subcontractor administration, and commercial reporting.
Working closely with project managers, engineering teams, and finance, the role ensures accurate cost control, timely customer invoicing, and effective management of project variations while supporting the overall delivery and profitability of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Cost Control
- Monitor project progress and prepare customer payment applications in line with project milestones and contractual requirements.
- Track and manage engineering day works, ensuring accurate commercial recording and cost recovery.
- Control and manage scope changes and cost variations, ensuring all variations are documented, approved, and commercially managed to minimise scope creep.
- Review and assess subcontractor quotations, variations, and claims to ensure accuracy and value.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements in accordance with company procurement and commercial procedures.
- Maintain accurate project cost records and assist with cost forecasting and reporting.
Commercial & Business Support
- Develop a strong understanding of the company’s business model, services, and technical solutions.
- Work closely with management, engineering teams, project managers, and finance to support the successful delivery of projects.
- Implement and promote best practices in cost tracking, variation management, and commercial reporting.
- Provide commercial guidance and support to project managers and engineering teams throughout project delivery.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve estimating methods, project cost control, and reporting processes across the organisation.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in project cost control, quantity surveying, or commercial project support.
- Strong understanding of project financial management and cost tracking.
- Experience managing variations, subcontractor costs, and commercial documentation.
- Ability to analyse financial and commercial data to support project decision-making.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and commercial teams.
- A Valid Irish work permit
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Business.
- Experience working in engineering, construction, or technical project environments.
- Familiarity with project management or ERP systems.
