Senior Formulations Specialist

Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Formulation Specialist to lead the development of innovative ingestible and topical products for global markets. This is a high-impact role where you will own formulation strategy from concept through to commercialization, shaping both current launches and future product pipelines. You will act as the technical authority across internal teams and external partners, ensuring that formulations are robust, scalable, and compliant across multiple regions. This role spans both nutrition and cosmetic formulations. Deep expertise in one area is essential, along with the ability and motivation to expand into the other.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end formulation development from concept to commercial production
• Define formulation architecture, ingredient selection, and overall technical strategy
• Develop and maintain detailed product specifications, including ingredient composition, tolerances, and quality attributes
• Establish stability programs and shelf-life validation strategies
• Partner with regulatory teams to ensure ingredient and claims compliance across global markets (US, EMEA, APAC)
• Support product registrations with clear and robust technical documentation
• Act as the primary technical lead with CDMOs and formulation consultants
• Define scopes of work, formulation requirements, and performance expectations for external partners
• Review and approve pilot batches, scale-up documentation, and validation data
• Support pilot production and first commercial manufacturing runs
• Identify and mitigate formulation and scale-up risks
• Collaborate with supply chain teams on raw material selection and manufacturability
• Evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and delivery formats
• Contribute technical input to product pipeline and innovation roadmap planning
• Maintain audit-ready technical documentation across all stages of development

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Food Science, Cosmetic Science, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in formulation development (nutrition, supplements, and/or cosmetics)
• Proven experience working with CDMOs and scaling products from pilot to commercial stage
• Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, interactions, and stability
• Experience working within regulated environments
• Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO22716, and GMP CFR 111
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a global team
• Willingness to travel (up to 10%)
• Ideally have experience across both ingestible and topical formulations
