Financial Controller
CREGG are seeking an experienced and ambitious Financial Controller to join our client based in Shannon, Co. Clare. This is a full-time, primarily onsite position, with some flexibility available where feasible. Reporting to the Company CEO, the Financial Controller will play a key role in the financial management of the business, overseeing financial accounting, management accounting, cash flow, financial controls, costing, and supporting the implementation of new systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the month-end financial close, including journals, reconciliations, and preparation of the monthly management reporting pack.
- Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register, prepayments, accruals, customer deposits, and net wages.
- Manage and oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
- Manage monthly bank and credit card transactions and reconciliations.
- Prepare and manage weekly cash flow reports and forecasts.
- Manage Revenue Returns and associated correspondence, including VAT and PREM.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports and performance metrics.
- Take hands-on responsibility for weekly and monthly cash flow management.
- Prepare cash flow plans and analyse performance against forecasted sales plans.
- Work closely with the CEO and Business Development function to finalise cash planning and sales forecasts.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place across accounting and financial processes.
- Support the development and improvement of the Finance function and broader financial processes.
- Participate in ongoing Lean improvement and systems implementation projects, including ERP implementation.
- Work collaboratively with wider cross-functional teams to support business objectives and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Professionally qualified accountant.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting function, preferably within a design, engineering, manufacturing services, or related industry.
- Strong financial and management accounting experience.
- Excellent understanding of financial controls, reporting, reconciliations, cash flow, and costing.
- Strong systems and IT skills, with experience supporting or implementing new ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
