Automation Engineer

CREGG is delighted to be partnering with a leading machine-building company in Dundalk to recruit an experienced Automation Engineer for a permanent position.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering team delivering innovative automation solutions for the processing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, program, and commission control panels and machinery

• Develop automation solutions for overhead conveyor systems, belt conveyors, and integrated production equipment

• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams on machine design and development

• Support the delivery of new automation projects and continuous improvements

Technical Environment:

• PLCs: Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, with occasional Schneider and Siemens systems

• Design Software: AutoCAD LT currently in use, with plans to explore EPLAN and/or SolidWorks Electrical

• Opportunity to contribute to future SCADA system development and equipment monitoring projects

About You:

• 3–4 years’ experience in automation, controls, or machine-building environments

• Strong PLC programming skills

• Experience with SolidWorks and/or electrical design software

• Knowledge of industrial machinery, conveyor systems, or manufacturing automation is advantageous

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
