Mechanical Fitter 

Location: Co. Clare, Ireland
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Engineering Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanical Fitter to join a busy chemical manufacturing facility in Co. Clare. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all mechanical equipment
  • Diagnose faults and perform timely repairs on pumps, valves, compressors, pipework, and rotating equipment
  • Install, align, and commission new machinery and plant systems
  • Work with process and production teams to minimise downtime and optimise performance
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with site safety procedures and regulatory standards
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Support shutdowns, turnarounds, and project work as required

Requirements

  • Qualified Mechanical Fitter (FETAC Level 6 or equivalent trade certification)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment (chemical/pharma preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, seals, bearings, and hydraulics
  • Experience working in ATEX or hazardous environments is an advantage
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible approach to work, including shift or on-call requirements if applicable
