The Project Manager will play a central role in the delivery of our Client’s bespoke solutions. The Project Manager will work closely with our Client’s Sales, Design, and Manufacturing teams & manage projects from initial customer engagement and concept sign-off, through detailed engineering and manufacture, to on-site installation, commissioning, and project closure.
This is a technical and commercially focused role, ideally suited to an engineer with strong project management experience who thrives in a customer-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of allocated projects from award through to customer sign-off and closure
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans including milestones, resource requirements, and risk registers
- Monitor project progress against plan, proactively identifying and resolving issues, delays, or overspends
- Manage project budgets to ensure profitability targets are met
- Sign off at all relevant project gates and maintain a complete project file
- Serve as the primary customer contact throughout the project lifecycle, managing expectations and ensuring high levels of satisfaction
- Apply hands-on engineering knowledge to produce block layout drawings and specify all mechanical and electrical components within scope, including conveying systems, belts, motors, pneumatics, and control systems relevant to food production environments
- Present finalised solutions to the Design Engineering team, briefing them to produce high-quality SolidWorks models and drawing packs for manufacture
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant mandatory legislation, hygiene standards, and customer specifications applicable to the food industry
- Provide technical support to Sales, Design, Manufacturing, and Service functions as required
- Continuously interrogate product design for opportunities to improve manufacturability, reduce cost, and enhance performance
Key Requirements:
- Degree level qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in a Project Manager or Senior Engineer role within a capital equipment, industrial automation, or food processing machinery environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full project lifecycle from concept through to onsite commissioning
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present confidently at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and customer relationships
- Experience specifying mechanical components including conveying systems, motors, pneumatics, and structural fabrications
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and MS Project or equivalent planning software
- Experience within the food processing or food production line sector
