R&D Engineer

R&D Engineer – Galway 

Overview
We are seeking a motivated R&D Engineer to support the development and improvement of disposable medical devices, including EEG cup electrodes, needle electrodes, injection-moulded assemblies, and wearable devices.
This role is suited to a recent graduate or engineer with up to 5 years' experience who is eager to learn, enjoys hands-on engineering work, and works well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform product testing using laboratory equipment, including automated force testing systems.
  • Analyse test data using statistical methods and prepare concise technical reports.
  • Assist senior engineers with product development and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Organise and manage prototypes, samples, and test materials.
  • Support design verification and product evaluation activities.
  • Create and update CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Liaise with contract manufacturers and suppliers regarding samples, prototypes, and technical activities.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and continuous product improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years' engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks/CAD
  • experience in Test methods, Tensile testing. report wriring and working with contractors / suppliers. 
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering materials.
  • Ability to analyse data and apply basic statistical techniques.
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Understanding of working within a Quality Management System.
