Position Summary
Supplier Engineer evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria while exercising sound judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. The role involves assignments with clearly defined objectives that require investigation of a limited number of variables and collaboration across multiple functions to resolve supply chain and material-related challenges.
Acting as a key liaison between Materials, Suppliers, Quality, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams, the Materials Engineer supports supplier qualification, material investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and corrective action processes to ensure product quality, supply continuity, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Project Support
- Participate in large-scale projects or lead smaller-scale projects under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
- Apply standard engineering principles, techniques, and practices to support materials and supplier-related initiatives.
- Demonstrate competency in relevant business systems and processes, including:
- Material Qualification Activities (AA/FA)
- SCIA
- Technical Assessments
- NCEP Process
- Product Data Management (PDM) activities
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute assigned phases of engineering projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to qualify, improve, and monitor supplier processes and performance.
Supplier & Supply Chain Support
- Serve as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to address material quality issues and supply constraints.
- Support supplier investigations and resolution of supplied material concerns.
- Work closely with commodity teams and supplier partners to identify and implement corrective actions.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Execute NCEP and CAPA investigations to determine root causes of defective components identified during receiving inspection.
- Support investigations involving defects identified throughout manufacturing and production processes.
- Participate in product complaint investigations related to supplied materials.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier quality, process capability, and material performance.
Quality System Responsibilities
Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all documented quality processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years' engineering experience.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical problems and implement effective solutions.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
