EHS Advisor
Job Purpose:
The purpose of the EHS Advisor role is to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company requirements on site, contributing to the overall safety and well-being of personnel. The position exists to implement and maintain the company's Safety Management System, identify and address training needs, and support the Site Safety Officer in fostering a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the site EHS System in accordance with agreed internal standards, legal and corporate requirements.
- Perform area, process, risk assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement and define controls in conjunction with operations, engineering and quality & other departments.
- Conduct site inspections and audits, ensuring site personnel comply with all safety and company requirements, and report findings to the Site safety officer.
- Participate in EHS improvement projects from concept through to implementation to completion.
- Support and provide EHS guidance to the site— advise on risk prevention opportunities and controls including hazardous materials handling, waste management or other relevant areas that should arise.
- Perform incident investigations, root cause analysis, EHS corrective and preventative actions.
- Collate and report the site EHS metrics and KPI’s.
- Promote a culture of EHS excellence and provides high-quality EHS knowledge.
- Review and update key EHS documents and procedures.
- Support site Ergonomic Programme and carry out ergonomic assessments such as DSE etc.
- Review sub-contractors Methods Statements / Risk Assessments and assist where required.
- Deliver and oversee workplace health and safety inductions, weekly toolbox talks, onsite training, and safety initiatives.
- Assist with accident and incident investigations, identify opportunities to reduce workplace injuries, accidents, and health issues, and contribute to improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for workplace health and safety training, toolbox talks meetings and initiatives with regular safety audits throughout the company, attending client safety audits and meetings.
- Support corporate EHS activities and drive a Culture of EHS throughout the business to reduce incidents.
- Ensures compliance with safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Identify issues and risks at the earliest opportunity and resolve or escalate issues as appropriate.
- Carry out testing as required e.g. Portable Appliance Testing
- Participate in ISO 14001 activities.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role is essential.
- Relevant 3rd Level EHS qualification essential.
- Strong understanding of Irish EHS Regulations and relevant ISO Standards e.g. ISO 45001 & 14001.
- Experience working in the manufacturing industry desired.
- Must work well in a team environment and communicate and interact effectively with others at all levels
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office required.
