Manufacturing Engineer – Shannon, Co. Clare
CREGG Recruitment is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer for a well-established Irish manufacturer of advanced gas-analysis and analytical-instrumentation solutions.
Based in Shannon and reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will play a central role in improving manufacturing processes, supporting production, enhancing product quality and facilitating the introduction of new products.
The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain teams in a hands-on and technically varied manufacturing environment.
The Role

Support day-to-day manufacturing and production activities.

Develop, implement and optimise manufacturing processes.

Provide hands-on technical support to production teams.
-
Troubleshoot manufacturing and product-quality issues.
-
Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
-
Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives.
-
Identify bottlenecks affecting throughput, quality, cost or delivery.
-
Develop and maintain work instructions, process flows and standard operating procedures.

Support New Product Introduction and product-transfer activities.

Participate in design reviews and provide Design for Manufacture and Assembly input.

Support prototype, pilot-build and production-readiness activities.

Develop manufacturing fixtures, tooling and production equipment.

Support equipment qualification, validation and commissioning.

Assist with Engineering Change Order implementation.

Support ISO quality standards and internal audit activities.

Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel.

Promote a safe, organised and efficient manufacturing environment.
The Candidate
-
Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.

At least three years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering role.

Experience in instrumentation, electronics, medical devices, precision engineering or a similar technical manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement methodologies.

Previous experience supporting New Product Introduction.

Experience with root-cause-analysis techniques such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis and FMEA.

Experience preparing manufacturing documentation, work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Knowledge of ERP or MRP systems and manufacturing-planning processes.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Lean Six Sigma certification would be advantageous.

Experience with tooling, fixtures, equipment validation or manufacturing automation would also be beneficial.
