Manufacturing Engineer

Job Purpose:
Our client is a global provider of electronic manufacturing services, supporting SMEs, multinationals and start-ups in bringing new technologies from concept through to volume production. They are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their business unit and play a key role in driving operational excellence, NPI, digitalisation and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of projects, develop their technical and project management skills, and make a tangible impact on manufacturing performance within a growing global organisation.
As Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and improving manufacturing processes, from New Product Introduction (NPI) through to volume production. You will work closely with production, quality, engineering, customers and other stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient and capable manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead NPI activities, ensuring processes meet quality, takt time, cost and volume requirements.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering projects from concept through to implementation and handover.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including Work Instructions, SOPs, Control Plans and PFMEAs.
  • Support Engineering Change Control, BOM updates and customer change requests.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, Pareto and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Drive Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement projects using tools such as 5S, PDCA and DMAIC.
  • Support digitalisation and automation initiatives across the business.
  • Support production layout changes and process optimisation.
  • Communicate project progress, risks and mitigation plans to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support quality system compliance, audit readiness and good manufacturing practices.
  • Contribute to Environmental, Health & Safety and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support Business Development with quotations and manufacturing input when required.
  • Keep up to date with emerging manufacturing technologies and identify opportunities for improved capability and performance.

Education and Experience:

  • Level 8 Engineering qualification in Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within electronics, cable & harness, PCBA, box build, SMT, through-hole or test.
  • Experience in NPI, Project Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Design for Manufacture.
  • Good understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; Green Belt or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and IPC-A-610, or equivalent industry standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities, work autonomously and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, change and process development.
  • A willingness and ability to learn new technologies and manufacturing processes.
