CREGG Recruitment are working with our medical device manufacturing client in Shannon, Clare in hiring a CNC Operative on their Two Shift Cycle
- 5 Axis CNC Machine Operator
Day Shift – 8am – 4pm
Evening Shift – 4pm – 12 Midnight
Must be flexible to work 3 shift cycle moving forward
Pay Rate – €17.27
Contract – 6 month contract with the view to extension/permanency
We are seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC
Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-established precision engineering environment producing complex, high-precision components for the medical device industry.
Working with advanced CNC technology, you will play a key role in manufacturing products that contribute to life-changing healthcare solutions while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and precision.
What You'll Be Doing
As a 5-Axis CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for:
• Setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machining centres.
• Loading, verifying, and running CNC programs.
• Performing tool changes, setting offsets, and making machine adjustments.
• Producing high-precision components to tight tolerances.
• Conducting first-off, in-process, and final inspections.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T
specifications.
• Troubleshooting machining and tooling issues.
• Working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to optimise
processes.
• Supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Maintaining accurate production and quality records.
• Ensuring compliance with ISO 13485, GMP, and company quality procedures.
Requirements
Essential:
• Apprenticeship or qualification in Toolmaking, Precision Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2-3 years' CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing
environment.
• Proven experience setting and operating 5-axis CNC machines.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and
cutting parameters.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as:
- Micrometers
- Vernier calipers
- Height gauges
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
• Experience within Medical Device, Aerospace, or High-Precision Engineering
industries.
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 manufacturing standards.
• Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, Mazak, or similar controls.
• Familiarity with Mastercam, Hypermill, SolidCAM, or similar CAM software.
• Experience machining titanium, stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and engineering
plastics.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methods
