Mechanical Project Engineer
CREGG are hiring for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a leading Food manufacturer in Sligo.
As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering tailored engineering solutions
from concept through to completion. Working closely with the Sales Team and customers,
you will develop optimised layouts and value-driven solutions, taking full ownership of
projects from initial concept and customer approval through to manufacture, installation,
commissioning, and final sign-off.
You will act as a technical link between departments, ensuring seamless communication and
successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Engage with customers and represent SF Engineering in a professional and
commercially focused manner
• Collaborate with the Sales Team to develop optimised, value-driven solutions aligned
with customer requirements
• Produce and refine layout drawings, clearly defining scope of supply
• Conduct risk assessments for proposed solutions
• Take full ownership of projects from concept through to final customer sign-off
• Liaise with Design Engineers to develop high-quality SolidWorks models and
manufacturing drawing packs
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and customer
expectations
• Oversee project progress through manufacturing, installation,
commissioning, and closure
• Monitor project costs against budget to ensure profitability targets are achieved
• Identify and manage opportunities for additional revenue outside the original scope
• Maintain effective communication across departments, ensuring visibility of project
status and performance
• Provide technical support to internal teams as required
• Prepare and maintain all necessary technical documentation
• Continuously review designs and processes to identify cost savings and efficiency
improvements
• Specify mechanical components including belts, motors, and pneumatic systems
Qualifications & Experience
• Third-level qualification in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline
• Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
• Proficient in SolidWorks
• Experience with electrical and pneumatic control systems
Desirable:
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication
• Experience within the food processing industry
• Hands-on engineering or workshop experience
• Strong commercial awareness
