Manufacturing Engineer SMT

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Program and maintain all SMT equipment, including the Printer, Pick-and-Place machines, and AOI systems.

  • Develop and optimise reflow oven profiles and manage oven programming.

  • Set up and support PTH (Plated Through-Hole) manufacturing processes and equipment.

  • Liaise with customers to define and implement optimal test equipment and program configurations.

  • Collaborate with customers on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to improve product manufacturability and ensure projects are delivered according to schedule.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business objectives and cost reduction targets.

  • Prepare and maintain assembly documentation, process instructions, and related manufacturing documentation.

  • Train production operatives on assembly processes and procedures.

  • Support the Maintenance Team in developing planned maintenance routines for SMT equipment and perform critical engineering maintenance tasks when required.

  • Provide technical support to the production team to ensure efficient manufacturing operations.

  • Implement process control methodologies such as FMEA and Control Plans as part of the change management process.

  • Ensure full compliance with all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, ensuring all housekeeping standards are met.

  • Support the organisation’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and objectives.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and undertake additional reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.


Essential Requirements

  • Level 8 qualification in Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience working with engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical drawings.

  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends when required to support business needs.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SMT components and manufacturing processes.
