About the Role
CREGG is recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join a well-established Irish-owned SME based in Limerick.
This is a broad, hands-on senior finance role suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys working closely with senior management and having real influence across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing monthly accounts and reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting, overseeing core finance processes, and providing financial insight to support business decision-making.
This role would suit a qualified accountant with strong technical ability, commercial awareness and the flexibility to work across a wide range of finance responsibilities in a busy SME environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting analysis.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to senior management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
- Review financial performance and provide commentary on results.
- Assist with product costing, margin analysis and wider commercial reporting.
- Oversee and support payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and invoicing processes.
- Ensure strong internal controls, financial procedures and statutory compliance are maintained.
- Manage company statutory obligations, tax returns, CSO returns and relevant filings.
- Support cashflow planning, banking relationships and financial administration.
- Review and improve accounting systems, processes and reporting tools where required.
- Work closely with senior management and provide ad hoc financial advice and support.
- Support the wider finance function and take on additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior finance, accounting or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, statutory compliance and company law.
- Experience working in an SME or multi-site/multi-function business environment would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of accounting systems and payroll packages.
- Excellent IT skills, including strong Excel capability.
- Experience in product costing, budgeting, forecasting or management reporting would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Commercially minded, hands-on and comfortable working closely with senior management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across all levels of the business.
