Electrical Project Engineer – Sligo (Permanent)
The Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for the electrical engineering design, specification, and commissioning of bespoke production line solutions
Responsibilities:
Lead the electrical design and engineering of bespoke food industry machine and system projects, from concept through to commissioning.
• Produce and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules using EPLAN or equivalent CAD software.
• Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical components, panels, and field devices.
• Develop and issue electrical specifications, technical documentation, and test protocols for internal and customer use.
• Liaise with panel builders, pre-wiring teams, and site electricians to ensure designs are buildable and align with project requirements.
• Manage electrical aspects of projects through all phases, including design review, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Attend customer sites for installation support, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
• Conduct design reviews and technical audits to ensure compliance with IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), machinery directives, and food industry standards.
• Coordinate with the mechanical design and software teams to ensure full system integration.
• Support the development of junior electrical staff and provide technical guidance across the engineering department.
• Identify and implement cost and efficiency improvements in electrical design and build processes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic or a related discipline, or equivalent trade industry experience.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or Project Engineer within a manufacturing or systems integration environment.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent).
• Sound working knowledge of BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations) and relevant machinery safety standards (e.g. EN 60204-1).
• Experience managing electrical projects from design through to site commissioning.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites domestically and internationally.
• Experience in the food processing, packaging, or industrial automation sector.
• Familiarity with PLC systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI configuration.
